A hundred thousand billion poems is a collection of experimental poetry written by Raymond Queneau, designed by Robert Massin, and published by Gallimard in 1961. The book consists of a sonnet where each of the 14 lines, printed on a strip of paper, has 10 different versions, allowing anyone to compose 1014 sonnets.
Design of print and digital editions that expand or reduce the combinatorial possibilities depending on the level of the cuts, ranging from 10 poems to 1012,267 poems. 37.5 × 28 cm, laser cut.
The challenge is to design an editorial polyptych that differs significantly from the original work and to exploit the full range of interactive possibilities that digital writing offers the reader.
